The People Power Party accepted the resignation of Spokesperson Son Beom-gyu, who was sued on suspicion of indecent assault. People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok ordered the Party Affairs Audit Committee to investigate the case.
The People Power Party said on the 7th, "Regarding media reports about a lawsuit over alleged indecent assault, on the 6th the person in question offered to resign as party Spokesperson, and the party leader immediately accepted it," adding, "In addition, the party leader ordered the Party Affairs Audit Committee to conduct a swift investigation into the facts."
Earlier, one outlet reported that the People Power Party Spokesperson, who is also the party chapter head for the Incheon area, was sued on charges of indecent assault and assault by abuse of occupational authority against a district council member. The suspect was identified as Spokesperson Son Beom-gyu.
On Facebook that day, Spokesperson Son said, "It was a Sunday that should have been full of grace, and on my birthday I thought of death," adding, "I died once. Starting today, as I live again, I will reveal the truth about the suspicion of indecent assault."
