Kim Jong-un, North Korea's Chairperson of the State Affairs Commission, was reported to have visited construction sites for local industry factories and expressed satisfaction.
According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 5th, the Chairperson said on the 3rd, after visiting construction sites for local industry factories in Sinyang County, Bukchang County, and Unsan County in South Pyongan Province, that "the construction units' construction level and technical equipment level have improved remarkably compared with a year ago."
He went on to emphasize that "in less than two years since launching the local industry revolution, the rise of modern local industry factories in 40 cities and counties across the country is a dazzling transformation of the provinces."
The Chairperson has been pushing since last year the "local development 20×10 policy," which calls for building modern factories in 20 counties every year, and he assessed that the project is proceeding as planned.
The Chairperson added significance by saying that "rural construction and local industry construction are a great revolution that fundamentally improves the people's quality of life and provides cities and counties with the material and technical foundation to develop independently."
However, at the construction site of the food factory in Bukchang County, the Chairperson was reported to have rebuked officials, saying that "the architectural design and process design did not match." Jo Yong-won and Pak Jong-chon, secretaries, accompanied the on-site guidance.
