Kim Nam-joon, Spokesperson for the presidential office, said at a briefing on the 14th that President Lee Jae-myung approved the dismissal plan for Acting Prosecutor General Noh Man-seok.
Noh, the acting chief, offered to resign on the 12th after facing internal backlash within the prosecution over the decision to drop the appeal in the Daejang-dong case.
At a farewell ceremony held that morning at the main building of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, Noh said, "It is true that the sincerity with which our prosecution has worked to protect the people from crime and safeguard the rule-of-law order has not been well received," adding, "I regret and feel sorry for not meeting the expectations of our prosecution family, who are calmly and quietly doing their best despite difficult conditions such as a shortage of personnel and a surge in cases."
