Floor leader Kim Byung-kee of the Democratic Party of Korea publicly singled out prosecutor Kang Baek-sin of the Daegu High Prosecutors' Office, criticizing, "The coup-like insubordination by pro-Yoon political prosecutors is truly a spectacle."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 10th, the floor leader said, "They brought a political indictment verging on fabrication, and yet their sloppy reasoning and evidence were thoroughly dismantled in court, but they feel no shame," adding, "(These political prosecutors) are still under the illusion that they stand above the law."
He repeatedly called out prosecutor Kang Baek-sin of the Daegu High Prosecutors' Office, who was in charge of maintaining the indictment in the Daejang-dong case, and sharply condemned him. Kang stood at the center of the controversy over the "decision not to appeal in the Daejang-dong case" after posting on the prosecution's intranet, e-Pros, a disclosure of the specific timeline of why the investigation and trial team could not appeal.
The floor leader said, "Their insubordination is a challenge to the people and to democracy by a handful of political prosecutors led by prosecutor Kang Baek-sin," adding, "Those who cannot say a word to governments that suit their tastes or are coercive are strutting around as if they were something."
He went on, "The Democratic Party does not take this matter lightly. We will get to the bottom of the political prosecutors' insubordination and the suspicions of fabricated indictments," stressing, "We will mobilize every possible means, including a parliamentary inquiry, hearings, and a special prosecutor, to uncover exactly what you did."
The floor leader said, "Prosecutor Kang Baek-sin and others are dressing up their insubordination as if it were righteous conviction by disclosing the internal decision-making process in chronological order," and added, "As for prosecutor Kang Baek-sin's approach, I propose we apply that exact method this time in a parliamentary inquiry, hearings, and a special prosecutor."
The floor leader said, "We will thoroughly crush the resistance of the political prosecution," adding, "We will use this opportunity to decisively hold both the pro-Yoon prosecutors and the insurrectionary forces to account and properly restore the democratic constitutional order."
Party leader Jung Chung-rae also said, "Floor leader Kim Byung-kee expressed his determination in strong terms, and I fully agree," emphasizing, "I believe this is insubordination against the people's mandate to liquidate insurrection, and against democracy and the Constitution."
