The People Power Party on the 4th decided to boycott President Lee Jae-myung's policy speech at the National Assembly in protest of the special counsel investigating the insurrection case requesting an arrest warrant for former floor leader Chu Kyung-ho.
Chief spokesperson for the parliamentary group Choi Su-jin told reporters after a general meeting of lawmakers at the National Assembly that they would not enter the policy speech venue and would strongly condemn the government at the National Assembly Rotender Hall.
Choi, the chief spokesperson for the parliamentary group, said the request for an arrest warrant for former floor leader Chu Kyung-ho is an oppression of the opposition and political retaliation, and said that former presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo reported to the police that five small business cards were handed out. Saying such things are unreasonable, Choi said they decided not to attend the policy speech.
The People Power Party, instead of attending the policy speech, held a rally condemning the special counsel investigating the insurrection case. The day before, special counsel team chief Cho Eun-suk's team requested an arrest warrant for former floor leader Chu Kyung-ho on suspicion of engaging in important insurrection-related duties, prompting the protest. At the rally, attending lawmakers wore black masks and chanted slogans such as "We condemn the Lee Jae-myung-style political oppression and runaway regime."
