Alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, the CEO Summit, regarded as one of APEC's two main cooperation platforms, will be held in Gyeongju from the 28th to the 31st.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) said on the 27th that, in cooperation with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and KOTRA, it has organized business events during APEC summit week, including the CEO Summit, export and investment-linked events, and a K-tech showcase.
The summit, to be held over four days and three nights at Gyeongju Arts Center, is organized into 20 sessions under the theme "Bridge, Business, Beyond," covering artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, regional economic integration, sustainability, finance and investment, and bio and health. About 1,700 global businesspeople are expected to participate.
In particular, a special address by President Lee Jae-myung is planned, and leaders from major APEC member economies will also attend and deliver special remarks. CEOs of global corporations such as Nvidia, Citigroup, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as heads of international organizations including the secretary-general of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), will attend for presentations and discussions across various fields.
APEC, based on a voluntary consensus decision-making structure and the openness of cooperative outcomes, has served as an "idea incubator," advancing innovative policy proposals. The APEC CEO Summit, which began in 1996, has played a central role.
Side events of the CEO Summit include the ▲ Future-Tech Forum (Oct. 27–28, 30) and ▲ K-tech Showcase (Oct. 28–31). The Future-Tech Forum brings together global leaders and scholars in key industries such as AI, shipbuilding, and defense to present a blueprint for the future of K-industries, with leading global companies such as AWS, OpenAI, Meta, and Siemens participating. The K-tech Showcase will feature Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK, and Hyundai Motor, highlighting the technological competitiveness of leading domestic corporations.
An official at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) said, "In key industrial fields such as AI, shipbuilding, and defense, in-depth insights from global industry leaders, tech corporations, and leading scholars worldwide are expected to be shared."
