Minister Song Mi-ryung of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs visited Gimhae Airport to personally inspect preparations for animal and plant quarantine and K-food promotion ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Gyeongju from the 31st to the 1st of next month.
According to the Agriculture Ministry on the 24th, the Minister visited Gimhae Airport, the main airport for the APEC summit, received a briefing on the progress of K-dessert and halal food exhibitions and tasting events, and said, "APEC is a critical opportunity for K-food to move onto the world's tables," adding, "Please prepare thoroughly so that we can convey the dignity and diversity of Korea's agricultural and food products."
The Minister also said, "When foreign leaders and others enter the country, please promote in advance the list of prohibited items so that there are no disruptions to quarantine, and do your best in promoting K-food," and requested, "For the successful hosting of APEC, take meticulous care even of the smallest details."
The Agriculture Ministry plans to strengthen promotion of agricultural and food exports and traditional food culture during APEC, while also making all-out efforts to enhance international trust in quarantine, disease control, and food safety management.
