The recovery rate of the administrative information systems paralyzed by the National Information Resources Service fire has surpassed 20%.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 4th, as of 5 p.m. that day, 130 (20.1%) of the 647 information systems halted by the National Information Resources Service fire had been restored. Among them, 21 are Tier-1 systems.
In particular, starting at 9 a.m. that day, with the Ministry of Economy and Finance's Korean-language website restored, most public-facing services resumed. The Ministry of Health and Welfare's electronic medical record (EMR) system and the Ministry of Science and ICT's researchers' online civil service center system were also restored.
After 647 information systems were paralyzed by a fire that broke out at the National Information Resources Service's Daejeon headquarters on the 26th of last month, the government has mobilized all personnel and equipment for restoration work.
While restoring the national computing network failure, a civil servant in charge under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety died after jumping from the Sejong Government Complex the previous day. The ministry said it would guarantee rest for staff responding to the system failure by adjusting working hours and would provide psychological counseling.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said it would temporarily restrict service use from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. that day to restore Korea Post Shopping data. The Korea Post Shopping service is scheduled to resume on the 10th, and in the meantime, it will run a Korea Post Shopping special sale through Naver Shopping, Lotte Home Shopping, and KakaoTalk Deal.
