Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's wife, Kim Keon-hee, sent a greeting ahead of Chuseok, saying, "Thank you for always supporting me."
According to the legal community on the 4th, attorney Yoo Jeong-hwa, counsel for Kim, wrote on Facebook the day before that she met with Kim on 2nd and posted what Kim said at the time.
According to Yoo, Kim said, "If it were not for your letters and support, I don't think I could have endured this long, dark tunnel," adding, "Have a happy Chuseok. I will always pray for you, too."
Kim is being investigated by the special investigation team led by Min Joong-ki and is on trial while being held at the Seoul Southern Detention Center. The special counsel team detained Kim on Aug. 12 on charges of violating the Capital Markets Act and the Political Funds Act and on suspicion of third-party bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, and indicted her on the 29th of the same month. This is the first time in constitutional history that a former first lady has been indicted while in custody.
Kim is accused of conspiring with former Deutsch Motors Chairman Kwon Oh-soo and others between Oct. 2010 and Dec. 2012 to engage in stock price manipulation and obtaining illicit gains worth 810 million won.
She is also accused of conspiring with the former president in Jun. 2021–Mar. 2022 to receive, free of charge, public opinion polls totaling 270 million won from Myung Tae-gyun, a "political broker," and of conspiring with Geonjin-bupsa Jeon Seong-bae (indicted and detained) to receive a request for support for the sect from a Unification Church official and accept valuables including an expensive necklace, totaling 80 million won, in Apr.–Jul. 2022.
At the first trial held on 24th last month, Kim denied all the charges.
