President Lee Jae-myung and his wife, Kim Hea-kyung, released a holiday greeting video to the people and compatriots on the 4th, two days before Chuseok.
Lee said, "Chuseok should be a time to pray for the year's abundance and dream of hope for tomorrow, but the hardships of people's livelihoods are still too great to share only joy," adding, "As the president who must be responsible for the lives of the people, I feel an immeasurably heavy sense of responsibility."
He went on, "I will do my best in state affairs to ease the burden on the people struggling with a hard life and to make everyone's household economy more abundant," and "I will spare no effort so that our industries and the nation can grow again and make a vigorous leap forward."
He added, "I am confident that we can overcome any difficulty because of our people's united will and aspiration for a better tomorrow."
Kim also offered greetings, saying, "As the saying goes, 'May it be no more and no less than Chuseok,' I pray that health and happiness will fill every home like the full moonlight that shines evenly on us all."
Dressed in hanbok in shades of light lavender, the presidential couple concluded the video by saying in unison, "Thank you," and bowing deeply.
