President Lee Jae-myung said on the 3rd regarding the death of an Interior and Safety Ministry official in charge of the national computer network disruption, who jumped from the Government Sejong Complex, that he "expresses sorrow and condolences together with the people."
Through social media (SNS) that day, the president said, "I pray for the repose of the deceased, who devoted the final moments of life to the people to fulfill a public servant's calling."
He added, "With a heavy sense of responsibility to swiftly resolve the public's inconvenience and normalize the functions of the state, the deceased fulfilled the duty day and night," and said, "We will never forget the dedication of the deceased, who sacrificed and worked out of sight while the public's daily life was restored and the state overcame the crisis."
The president added, "I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and colleagues at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and pray for the deceased's rest and eternal peace."
Earlier, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok and Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik visited the mourning altar prepared in Sejong that evening for the public servant who died in the line of duty to express their condolences.
According to the government, around 10:50 a.m. that day, a Ministry of the Interior and Safety official, identified as A, was found dead on the ground near the Jungang-dong Government Complex in Eojin-dong, Sejong. The official was known to have overseen the team handling the national computer network disruption after the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) fire incident.
