North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui sent a congratulatory message to Wang Yi, director of the Communist Party of China Central Foreign Affairs Commission Office and minister of foreign affairs, to mark the 76th anniversary of China's National Day (founding day), the Korean Central News Agency reported on the 2nd.
In the message, Choe said, "In the 76 years since the founding of new China, the Chinese people have achieved remarkable successes in the undertaking to build socialism with Chinese characteristics under the leadership of the Communist Party of China."
She went on to say, "The two countries' foreign affairs institutional sectors bear an important mission in consolidating and developing the traditional China–North Korea friendship to meet the demands of the new era."
Earlier, at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Choe visited China from Sept. 27 to 30. It was her first solo trip to China since taking office as foreign minister in Jun. 2022. During the visit, Choe held a North Korea–China foreign ministers' meeting with Director General Wang and paid a courtesy call on Premier Li Qiang, China's "No. 2."
At the time of the visit, Choe said, "We will work together to advance the China–North Korea friendship and cooperation relationship more vigorously and to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' foreign affairs institutional sectors."
