The People Power Party criticized that President Lee Jae-myung should apologize over the paralysis of government public services following the fire at the National Information Resources Service in Daejeon. It also argued that Yoon Ho-jung, the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, who heads the responsible ministry, should be dismissed.
Choi Bo-yoon, senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, issued a commentary on the 28th, saying, "President Lee Jae-myung should practice what he said two years ago that has come back like a boomerang," and added, "Why is he silent now, after demanding the dismissal of the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and an apology from the president when he was the Democratic Party representative?"
She continued, "Although 647 business systems were shut down due to the National Information Resources Service fire, public anger is growing over the indefinite recovery timeline and the government's 'measures without measures,'" adding, "This incident is not simply a fire caused by a battery issue; the gap in cloud redundancy at the National Information Resources Service due to budget shortages has made the situation worse."
Choi also noted, "During the Kakao incident in 2023, then-Democratic Party representative Lee Jae-myung said 'all authority entails corresponding responsibility' and demanded the immediate dismissal of the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and an apology from the president," adding, "Where is President Lee, who strongly urged taking responsibility with an attitude of blaming myself, not others?"
She went on, "You declared that the presidential office is the disaster control tower, so why the silence? Come before the public right now and apologize for this incident that shook people's daily lives and caused inconvenience," adding, "We will watch with the public to see whether you show a responsible attitude by dismissing the Minister of the Interior and Safety."
