Han Dong-hoon, the former People Power Party leader who has embarked on a "nationwide public sentiment tour," released images of himself personally delivering fried chicken.
On the 24th, the former leader posted on his Instagram, "I listened to the difficulties of small self-employed business owners from the owner and a part-time student. I also delivered fried chicken with the owner," along with photos of him working part-time at a chicken franchise.
The photos show the former leader folding chicken packaging boxes, talking with staff, carrying chicken while moving, and appearing to deliver it to a doorstep and press the doorbell.
On the 24th, on CBS Radio's "Kim Hyun-jung's News Show," the former leader said, "Please understand that this is not some grand public sentiment tour or expedition, but simply going out to meet people and listening to many comments about what problems politics needs to solve."
He went on, "Yesterday I visited Jinju and heard from restaurant owners, 'The economy has been really bad recently. It needs to be resolved somehow.' In the evening, in the Jinju Innovation City, I helped a small business owner who runs a chicken chain with packing and delivering chicken, and I also heard, 'The delivery app fees are too burdensome.'"
When the host asked, "When you went to deliver chicken, did the apartment owner fail to recognize you?" the former leader replied, "These days the delivery app says, 'Ring the bell, leave it, and go.' So I rang the bell, left it, and left."
Regarding the request by Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok's team, which investigates insurrection and treason cases, for him to appear, the former leader said, "On Dec. 3, I was at the forefront more than anyone else in blocking martial law, and because of that I was driven out of the party leadership and am still under constant attack. I am going through a great political ordeal," adding, "This fixation on me clearly has a political intent to split the conservative camp rather than to uncover the truth."
He also said, "It seems the special counsel appointed by the Democratic Party wants to create a picture where I tip them off," adding, "I think that could be the starting point for a split in the conservative camp and would do nothing to help uncover the truth."
