The Democratic Party of Korea launched an investigation to look into the controversy surrounding Choi Kang-wook, the party's education training center head, regarding his 'secondary harm' remarks linked to the sexual misconduct incident involving the Rebuilding Korea Party on the 5th.
Park Soo-hyun, the chief spokesman for the Democratic Party, stated that the party's ethics inspection team requested Choi to submit an account of the situation, and a face-to-face investigation is scheduled for today.
He added, "After the results of the face-to-face investigation are out, the further procedures and actions will likely be determined," and noted, "Today marks the process of a swift investigation directed by Representative Jeong Cheong-rae."
Lee An-joo, a supreme council member, mentioned on her social media (SNS) that, "Why is the head of the Democratic Party's education training center creating issues in another party and dragging us into an awkward situation?" and emphasized that "swift action from the party is needed."
Choi remarked during a lecture at the Rebuilding Korea Party's Daejeon-Sejong City event on the 31st of last month that regarding the sexual misconduct incident involving the Rebuilding Korea Party, "Who really knows the facts of the matter, regardless of what the sexual misconduct is? It's just people gossiping based on what they hear from others," adding that "thinking that what someone you like says must be correct is not your thought but the thought of a pig."
Subsequently, Representative Jeong Cheong-rae instructed the party's ethics inspection team to conduct an urgent investigation into Choi.
