President Lee Jae-myung and the representatives of the ruling and opposition parties will meet for lunch on the 8th. After lunch, there will also be a one-on-one meeting between President Lee Jae-myung and People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk.
Kim Byung-wook, the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office, held a briefing on the 5th and noted that "President Lee Jae-myung will meet with the representatives of the ruling and opposition parties for lunch on the 8th." Kim added, "There will also be a one-on-one meeting between the president and People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk after lunch."
The Presidential Office stated that the meeting with the representatives of the ruling and opposition parties would proceed freely without setting any specific agenda. Kim indicated, "On August 27, I delivered a congratulatory flower to representative Jang Dong-hyuk, and the next day the president returned to the country," and added, "After that, I met with representative Jang's side several times and held multiple phone conversations to negotiate, and specifically, an agreement was reached this morning."
Kim emphasized that this meeting was also pushed forward with the agreement of Democratic Party of Korea leader Lee Cheong-rae. Regarding Jang Dong-hyuk's comment that a meeting without a specific agenda would be meaningless, Kim refrained from elaborating but noted, "I believe the People Power Party side will also hold a briefing."
