North Korea officially announced the arrival of Kim Jong Un, the Chairperson of the State Affairs Commission, in Beijing through internal media such as the Workers' Newspaper and Korean Central Television.
On the 3rd, the Workers' Newspaper, the official newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, reported on its front page that "Chairperson Kim arrived in the capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing, by special train to attend the 80th anniversary commemorative event of the 'Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War and the World Anti-Fascist War (World War II) victory' on the afternoon of the 2nd."
The newspaper noted, "Chairperson Kim got off the special train and met with the leadership of the Chinese Party and government and exchanged friendly greetings," adding that "the Chinese officials who came to greet him warmly welcomed Chairperson Kim."
The newspaper published photos of Chairperson Kim being greeted by officials including Cai Qi, the Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Chinese Communist Party (a member of the Politburo Standing Committee with an official ranking of 5th), and Wang Yi, the head of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission (also serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs), while having his daughter Ju Ae by his side.
When mentioning Chairperson Kim's company with his daughter Ju Ae, North Korean internal media typically refers to her as "beloved daughter" or similar titles, but there was no specific mention of Ju Ae in this report, consistent with the previous day's report by Korean Central News Agency.
Chairperson Kim's visit to China comes after 6 years and 8 months since January 2019, with the special train departing Pyongyang on the 1st and arriving at Beijing Station on the afternoon of the 2nd. The newspaper reported that Ri Yong Nam, the North Korean Ambassador to China, along with embassy staff, was present at the station.
It introduced the atmosphere at the scene, stating that Beijing City is "overwhelmed with a sense of friendship towards the Chinese people" and is welcoming Chairperson Kim with "the most friendly spirit and an enthusiastic atmosphere."
After arriving in Beijing, Chairperson Kim visited the North Korean embassy as his first schedule and will attend the Chinese Victory Day parade in Tiananmen Square on the morning of the 3rd alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
