Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo announced on the 30th that he is restarting his YouTube channel 'TV Hong Cola.' It has been four months since he declared his retirement from politics after being eliminated from the People Power Party presidential primary in April.
He stated on his Facebook that "Although I experienced two fraudulent primaries and was greatly disappointed by that, leaving the party and politics, I am contemplating what I can do to repay my country for the rest of my life."
He said, "The TV Hong Cola channel, which I predicted would emerge seven years ago during the era of individual media, has not featured my actual appearances over the past five years due to my position in office, only broadcasting political news related to me." He added, "Now, as I start anew, I plan to actually appear and discuss the happenings of the world in a talk show format."
TV Hong Cola is a YouTube channel that former Mayor Hong established in December 2018 targeting the younger generation. It currently has approximately 750,000 subscribers.
He added, "The newly started TV Hong Cola will be a forum that departs from the factional rhetoric, unlike the extreme tubers and biased media, discussing worldly affairs based on facts and political convictions."
