The Democratic Party of Korea pledged on the 29th at a member workshop to support the national agenda of the Lee Jae-myung government and to devote all efforts during the regular session to complete reforms and stabilize people's livelihoods.
On the morning of the second day of the workshop, Democratic Party members gathered at the Paradise City Hotel in Incheon to read the "2025 Regular National Assembly Democratic Party Members' Resolution." The resolution included four main goals: ▲complete cessation of the Dec. 3 coup incident, ▲enactment of legislation for people's livelihoods and reforms, ▲overcoming national composite crises and jumping to an advanced nation, and ▲commitment to the success of the Lee Jae-myung government.
The resolution stated, "The great people thwarted the Dec. 3 coup attempt with bare bodies and gave birth to the Lee Jae-myung people's sovereignty government out of a desire for regime change," and declared, "The Democratic Party will be armed with the heavy responsibility and mission of being the ruling party and the leading party in the National Assembly to normalize Korea."
Furthermore, it said, "Through the 2025 Regular National Assembly, we will lay the cornerstone for the recovery, reform, and growth of Korea. We will make this year a year of hope where judicial reform, media freedom, peace on the Korean Peninsula, justice and fairness, and the people's economy thrive," bringing reform tasks back to the forefront.
At the end of the resolution, Democratic Party members exclaimed, "The success of the Lee Jae-myung government means the success of Korea and its people," and shouted, "We will powerfully advance toward a country where the sovereign people are all happy, a real Korea." The members concluded the event with a group photo, reaffirming the 'one team' spirit.
The Democratic Party positioned this workshop as a 'send-off ceremony' ahead of the regular session. Since the 28th, members have focused on reviewing key livelihood issues and reform legislative tasks for two days. They also worked hard to unify the message regarding reform tasks between the party and government. Democratic Party legislative committee members stated they would ensure there are no disagreements between the party and government regarding the recently raised judicial reform issue.
Before adopting the resolution, the party leadership emphasized 'the party-government team as one' and urged the unwavering promotion of livelihood reform tasks.
Representative Jeong Cheong-rae noted, "We have been running tirelessly for the past nine months since the state of emergency on Dec. 3 of last year," and added, "Reform is harder than revolution. There will be much resistance. However, if we unite, there will be no part we cannot overcome."
Representative Jeong mentioned the U.S.-Korea summit, stating, "President Lee Jae-myung was meticulously prepared and received evaluations as a 'smart and great politician' from the U.S. media and President Trump," and suggested, "I ask for applause for President Lee," prompting a round of applause in the hall. He then shouted three times with the members, "Unite and succeed!"
