People Power Party Representative Jang Dong-hyuk noted that a meeting between President Lee Jae-myung and the party leaders could be possible if he promises a one-on-one meeting with President Lee.
On the 29th, Representative Jang met with reporters after the congressional training session held at Incheon International Airport Corporation's aviation training center and said, "While we can talk about the outcomes of the Korea-U.S. summit by making a lot of concessions and having the party leaders meet with the president, there should be time afterward for the president and the leader of the first opposition party to have a serious discussion about the people's lives."
Earlier, President Lee instructed that a meeting with party leaders must be pursued to explain the results of the Korea-U.S. summit. This suggests that if a separate one-on-one meeting is guaranteed later, it may indicate that he is willing to join the president alongside the ruling party leader.
Representative Jang said, "If the achievements from the summit are made public through the joint statement or fact sheets, it shouldn't be necessary to explain the outcomes," adding, "That is the most certain way and the best method to persuade and reassure the public."
Regarding the meeting with former President Yoon Suk-yeol, he stated, "I will decide at an appropriate time." Representative Jang emphasized, "Right now is a time to appoint people and quickly reorganize the party," and added, "I will make an appropriate decision regarding the meeting with former President Yoon at the right time."
Representative Jang expressed regret, stating, "The right to defend against impeachment proceedings for former President Yoon was not properly guaranteed, and the legal procedures were not properly followed," but added, "However, I have repeatedly stated that I accept the Constitutional Court's decision that the means of martial law was a decision lacking appropriateness and balance."
After the training session that day, Representative Jang stated through a resolution announcement, "I believe that making it a party that fights well is the beginning of innovation," adding, "I will create a winning party at the forefront." He further remarked, "We need to fight not on the battlefield set by the Democratic Party, but by creating our own battlefield with destructive thinking," and said, "I will make it a party that favors those who fight without exception."
