Deputy Minister Kang Hoon of the Presidential Office said on the 29th regarding the private luncheon meeting related to the Korea-U.S. summit, "There was a comment confirming that (President Donald Trump) at least does not believe in the fraudulent election." He stated that President Trump expressed to President Lee Jae-myung, "I have heard for a long time that you (President Lee) would be elected," indicating that he does not believe the claims of a fraudulent election made by some members of the People Power Party and the far-right.
Deputy Minister Kang appeared on the YouTube show 'Kim Eo-jun's Humble News Factory' hosted by broadcaster Kim Eo-jun, where he shared his thoughts on the Korea-U.S. summit. When Kim encouraged him to speak in his Chungcheong dialect, having done so during his first term with 'Let's get a vote,' Deputy Minister Kang declined with a smile.
Deputy Minister Kang stated regarding President Trump's post on Truth Social about a possible "purge or revolution" happening in Korea about three hours before the summit, "(President Lee) was not surprised. He was surprisingly calm," noting, "It is highly likely that he thought it was part of Trump's unique negotiation skills."
Deputy Minister Kang said, "I would think various simulations were conducted before the Korea-U.S. summit," adding, "The president's judgments were mostly correct. He seems to possess very remarkable insight." He discussed his meeting with White House Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles prior to the summit, mentioning, "Chief of Staff Wiles' father is a Korean War veteran," and expressed, "Korea is the country your (Wiles') father defended with his blood, and we could have a conversation appealing for your help in protecting it together."
He is said to have praised the contributions of Korean War veterans, including Chief of Staff Wiles' father, and emphasized that there are 2 million Korean Americans. Deputy Minister Kang explained the background of his meeting's initiative, stating, "We needed various channels to communicate (with the U.S.), and among policy makers, the Chief of Staff is someone who remains through the entirety of their term. They share a political destiny."
Deputy Minister Kang reportedly explained multiple times the background of the 'special prosecutor's raid on the church and Osan Air Base' that Trump raised on Truth Social. He stated calmly, "The search and seizure happening in Korea is not led by the Lee Jae-myung administration or our administration. I hope there is no misunderstanding." He added that he requested the Chief of Staff Wiles to definitely report to President Trump, and Wiles responded that she would.
