President Lee Jae-myung returned home after completing his schedule in the United States and Japan. He is expected to focus on domestic issues while continuing follow-up actions regarding the summit with Japan and the United States.
On the morning of the 28th, President Lee arrived at Seongnam Airport in Gyeonggi Province aboard the presidential jet. He left Korea on the 23rd for his visit to Japan and returned after 3 nights and 6 days.
Prior to his visit to the U.S., President Lee met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to agree on the development of Korea-Japan relations for Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation and the establishment of a consultative body to address social issues. In the U.S., he met with President Donald Trump to propose dialogue between North Korea and the U.S. and to solidify cooperation in the shipbuilding sector.
During his trip, President Lee is also expected to review domestic issues that accumulated. First, the Yellow Envelope Law (revisions to Articles 2 and 3 of the Trade Union Act) and the second commercial law amendment passed the National Assembly during the trip. In the regular session starting on the 1st of next month, the first budget of the Lee Jae-myung government and various reform bills are expected to be processed.
Establishing a relationship with the new leadership of the People Power Party is also important. President Lee suggested a meeting through Woo Sang-ho, the chief political advisor of the Presidential Office, after meeting with People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk the previous day.
