North Korean Chairperson Kim Jong Un visited a large-scale sea farming base and fish village cultural housing district established in Nakwon County, South Hamgyong Province, on the 26th, expressing his determination to promote local development policies.
The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 27th that Kim expressed satisfaction after inspecting the completed Nakwon County seaside farming business site and fish village cultural housing district, stating, "The first shovel was certainly turned this year, but it has already completed into such picturesque scenery."
According to the report, Kim evaluated that "All the buildings are a product of our party's local development policy, upheld with absolute fidelity and devoted struggle by our military's high ideological preparedness and determination."
He continued, "The remarkable speed of development that transformed the once most backward county into an economically solid one in just over half a year will be noted in the new era's local industrial revolution and the republic's development history."
Kim reiterated the goals of the local development policy, emphasizing, "When all local builders... (omission) strive with ambitious determination and courage to learn from and surpass the architectural culture and new civilization of the capital, the monumental task of local revitalization welcomed by the people will be brilliantly accomplished."
On that day, Kim directed his officials to discuss new prospective plans aimed at enhancing the county's economic potential and to hold the completion ceremony in the near future.
The agency introduced the Nakwon County sea farming business site as the "important local construction policy target for this year" initiated according to Kim's local development plan, noting that it was completed in just over 190 days since construction began, featuring modern and advanced production facilities along with various dwellings and convenience service facilities harmoniously integrated with the surrounding natural environment.
This site visit was accompanied by Labor Party Secretary Jo Yong Won, Directors General Kim Jae Ryong and Kim Yong Soo, along with Deputy Directors Park Sung Chul and Kim Yo Jong.
The Nakwon Farming Site is the second sea farming site constructed in North Korea, following the Sinpo Farming Business Site, which was completed last December.
In February, Kim turned the first shovel for the groundbreaking ceremony and visited the construction site in July, and it is expected to be presented as one of Kim's achievements on the upcoming Labor Party foundation anniversary in October.
