The Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly will review the closed-circuit (CC) TV footage from the Seoul Detention Center, where former President Yoon Suk-yeol is incarcerated.
The Legislation and Judiciary Committee approved a proposal regarding the 'on-site inspection implementation plan' during a full meeting held on the 26th.
According to the on-site inspection implementation plan, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee will visit the Seoul Detention Center on the 1st of next month to review the CCTV footage related to the execution of the arrest warrant for former President Yoon.
Choo Mi-ae, the chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, stated in the committee meeting, 'We will review the video records concerning whether former President Yoon received preferential treatment during incarceration and the request for special prosecutor attendance,' adding, 'We want to confirm any circumstances that may have hindered the investigation.'
On the other hand, members of the People Power Party voted against this agenda. People Power Party lawmaker Song Seok-jun remarked, 'The current situation has already been excessively exposed to the media,' stating that 'the embarrassing images are known, causing the public to frown, and there is criticism of how the immediate past president is being treated in such a way.'
Earlier, the special prosecutor team, led by Min Jung-ki, attempted to arrest former President Yoon at the detention center after he failed to respond to a summons. At that time, former President Yoon was reported to have refused arrest while dressed only in underwear.
However, it is uncertain whether the related footage will be made public. The decision on whether to disclose it will be made considering personal information protection and other factors.
On that day, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee also reported individuals suspected of perjury during the investigation process of the special prosecutor for the deceased Marine. It is reported that Song Ho-jong, former head of the Presidential Security Service, and Lee Kwan-hyung, a member of the 'Cool Marines' group chat, perjured or advised perjury while appearing at the National Assembly's government audit and hearings, as noted by the Democratic Party. It is also known that the targets of the accusations include former Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop, Military Advisor to the Minister of National Defense Park Jin-hee, and former head of the National Defense Prosecutors' Office Kim Dong-hyuk.
