The member voting and public opinion survey to determine the final winner among candidates Kim Moon-soo and Jang Dong-hyuk, who advanced to the runoff for the People Power Party leadership election, will begin on the 24th.
According to the People Power Party election management committee, mobile voting for party members will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on that day.
It remains to be seen whether the turnout from the first day, which recorded the highest rate since the party name change at this conference, can be surpassed in the runoff.
The mobile voting turnout for the preliminary election was recorded at 37.51% in just one day. The final turnout, including the automated response survey (ARS) voting, was 44.39%.
However, with candidates Jang Kyung-tae and Ahn Cheol-soo eliminated, there are predictions that the supporters of the pro-impeachment faction (supporting the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol) may abstain from voting.
The mobile voting turnout for party members will be tallied after the voting concludes that day. On the 25th, ARS voting will be conducted for members of the electoral group who did not participate in mobile voting.
Public opinion surveys for the general public will also be conducted in parallel for two days starting this day. The candidate will be determined by combining 80% of the party member votes and 20% of the public opinion survey.
The results of the runoff will be announced on the 26th at the National Assembly Library.
