President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating has dropped for two consecutive weeks, falling to 56%.
According to a survey conducted by Korea Gallup from 19th to 21st, which asked 1,004 people aged 18 and older about their evaluation of President Lee Jae-myung's job performance, 56% of respondents replied that he is doing well, the results were announced on the 22nd. This is a 3 percentage point decrease from the previous week.
The responses indicating 'he is doing poorly' accounted for 35%, and 'no opinion' was 9%.
Looking at the approval rating by region, Gwangju and Jeolla had the highest at 84%, followed by Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (58%), Incheon and Gyeonggi (56%), and Seoul (55%) where the majority was exceeded.
By age group, those in their 40s had the highest approval at 72%, followed by those in their 50s at 67%, while those in their 30s and 20s were at 51% and 49%, respectively. The approval rating was lowest at 38% for those aged 70 and older.
The main reasons for the positive evaluation of the job performance are 'economy and livelihood,' which accounted for 15%, and 'communication,' 'overall doing well,' and 'initiative, execution, and pace' each accounted for 9%.
On the other hand, the main reason for the negative evaluation was 'special pardon' at 21%, while 'excessive welfare and livelihood support money' and 'economy and livelihood' each accounted for 11%.
By party, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 44%, while the People Power Party recorded 25%. Both increased by 3 percentage points compared to the previous week. The Rebuilding Korea Party's approval rating was counted at 4%.
This survey was conducted through telephone interviews using randomly selected virtual mobile numbers. The sample error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a contact rate of 42.1% and a response rate of 13.4%.
