President Lee Jae-myung will visit Japan and the United States consecutively starting on the 23rd to hold meetings with leaders of each country. This marks the first Korea-U.S. and Korea-Japan summit since the new government took office. Previously, a tariff negotiation was concluded with the Donald Trump administration based on 'shipbuilding cooperation and investment', thus a visit to shipyards is included in the major schedule of this trip to the U.S.
