President Lee Jae-myung will meet with Bill Gates, chairman of the Gates Foundation, on the 21st during his visit to Korea.
According to the Presidential Office on the 20th, President Lee and Chairman Gates are scheduled to meet for discussions at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul, on the morning of the 21st. President Lee and Chairman Gates are expected to discuss cooperation in the global health sector.
Chairman Gates entered Korea on the same day through the Gimpo Business Aviation Center in Gangseo District, Seoul. This is Gates' first visit to Korea in three years since 2022.
Chairman Gates will have lunch with Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on the 21st and will also visit the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee to attend a meeting on 'Korea's contribution and leadership in global conditions.'
Chairman Gates is reported to be in Korea to collaborate with Korean pharmaceutical companies on a vaccine distribution project for low-income countries. Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has been actively engaged in areas such as climate change, poverty alleviation, and health through the Gates Foundation.
