Kim Keon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, is reported to have conveyed her feelings that she is prepared to face death if it could save her husband.
Shin-pyeong, a lawyer who is a mentor and supporter of former President Yoon, revealed on the 20th through his social networking service (SNS) that he visited Kim Keon-hee at the Seoul Southern Detention Center and shared part of their conversation.
According to him, during the meeting, Kim Keon-hee said, "Teacher, wouldn't it open a path for my husband if I were to die?"
The surprised lawyer noted, "I tried to comfort her by saying not to think that way and offered a little consolation," adding, "It seemed that she has been preoccupied with those thoughts lately."
He also explained that Kim Keon-hee, due to symptoms of depression, could hardly eat and was left with only a gaunt frame.
While conversing with the lawyer, Kim Keon-hee reportedly lamented, "How could Han Dong-hoon (former leader of the People Power Party) have done that?"
She also mentioned about the former leader, saying, "If he hadn't betrayed like that, wouldn't infinite glory have awaited him?"
The lawyer concluded, saying, "Leaving behind Kim Keon-hee, who has become so emaciated, I quietly left the Southern Detention Center, still covered by the blazing sun of Yeomcheon."
Meanwhile, the lawyer explained the background of his meeting with Kim Keon-hee, stating, "I received a call from a journalist while I was staying in China."
According to the lawyer, the journalist said, "Now that you two have ended up like this, my heart has been so sad lately. Isn't President Yoon someone who has consistently tried to be just?"
Regarding Kim Keon-hee, he remarked, "What a warm-hearted person she is. She cannot just pass by someone in a difficult situation," and added, "The Chanel bag incident also happened because she was trying to help, and she got caught up with Pastor Choi. Isn't it also true that she was initially harassed under the nonsensical 'Julie' accusation? Please, Mr. Shin, help the two of them a little. Please visit Kim Keon-hee this time if you can."
When the lawyer asked, "Why did someone who thinks that way criticize Kim Keon-hee so vehemently?" the journalist replied, "I am an investigative reporter, so I had no choice but to do so for professional reasons. Please understand me a little. But I am calling because my heart is very sad right now."
