President Lee Jae-myung said on the 15th, marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, "I urge and propose once again that we move away from divisive politics based on outdated ideologies and factions and together create a politics of solidarity and coexistence based on dialogue and compromise."
On the same day, President Lee said during the celebratory speech at the 80th Liberation Day celebration held at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul, "We must change the political culture."
The president stated, "When politics restores its function of pursuing the public good and ends the abnormal situation where the people are worried about politics, the barriers of conflict and hatred that reside among us will also disappear."
He added, "Let us join hands and move toward a strong country, a nation where we prosper together, and a true democratic republic where popular sovereignty is fully realized, as our ancestors envisioned."
The president remarked, "When we transform the dark energy of division and exclusion into bright energy of inclusion, integration, and solidarity, our society can leap forward toward a better future."
