Vice Minister Lee Doo-hee of the Ministry of National Defense held the 13th Korea-UAE Vice Ministers' Operational Committee on the 6th with Ibrahim Nasser Mohammed Al Alawi, Vice Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at the Ministry of National Defense.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the two countries' vice ministers exchanged views on key issues, including the security situation of both countries. They also assessed the results of defense exchanges and cooperation highly, agreeing to advance cooperation in the defense and defense industry sectors to align with the 'special strategic partnership.'
In the defense sector, the core agreement is to expand cooperation in future areas such as information, cyber, and artificial intelligence, and to further develop mutual cooperation in joint exercises. The Vice Minister decided to support the South Korean Air Force's Black Eagles for the successful hosting of the Dubai Airshow scheduled for the 11th in the UAE.
In the defense industry sector, they agreed to acknowledge the excellence of K-defense, confirmed through the local joint training of mechanized units such as K2 and K9 conducted for the first time in the UAE last February, and to strive for long-term cooperation in defense industry and defense science and technology.
Earlier, on the 5th, Vice Minister Al Alawi, who paid a visit to Minister Ahn Kyubak of the Ministry of National Defense, is scheduled to visit the Air Force Sacheon base on the 7th. At this event, he will board the Korean-made fighter jet KF-21 prototype. Air Force Chief of Staff Lee Young-soo plans to fly along in the FA-50.
