Minister Ahn Gyu-baek of the Ministry of National Defense said on the 1st (local time), "Seeing the Republic of Korea's K2 tank being produced locally, I can truly feel the power of our K-defense expanding into the world."
According to the Ministry of National Defense, Minister Ahn made this remark during the signing ceremony for the second K2 tank implementation contract held in Gliwice, Poland. He added, "Our K-defense is traversing the five oceans and six continents with the love and support of our citizens, and the government of the people promises that the defense industry will continue to expand globally with the love, support, and trust of the people."
Hyundai Rotem and the Polish government concluded negotiations for the second K2 tank contract worth $6.5 billion (approximately 9 trillion won) on this day. This is the largest single defense export contract in history, with a total supply quantity of 180 units. Hyundai Rotem will produce and deliver 117 units, while 63 units will be handled by the Polish state defense company PGZ.
Minister Ahn is scheduled to hold a meeting with Poland's Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The two countries will discuss ways to strengthen defense and defense industry cooperation.
