Minister An Gyu-baek of the Ministry of National Defense agreed to strengthen comprehensive defense exchange cooperation between the two countries with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Poland, Wojciech Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 1st, Minister An held a defense ministerial meeting with Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz at Gliwice, Poland, on the morning of the same day (local time) and reached this agreement.
Before the meeting, the two ministers attended the signing ceremony for the second implementation contract for the K2 tank. The Ministry of National Defense noted that it highly values the completion of a contract that the two ministers have been closely discussing for the past two years.
Minister An said, "I will actively support the education and training related to ensuring that the Polish military can optimally operate our weapon systems, including the K2 tank, K9 self-propelled howitzer, and Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system."
He then suggested to actively expand mutual cooperation between the two countries in other defense industries, such as the submarine project currently pursued by Poland.
Minister An, who visited Poland as his first overseas stop after taking office for the signing ceremony and meeting, invited Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz to Korea. Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz responded that he would visit Korea soon.
