In the first half of this year, national tax revenue reached 190 trillion won, an increase of more than 20 trillion won compared to the same period last year.
According to the 'June National Tax Revenue Status' announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 31st, the cumulative national tax revenue from January to June was 190 trillion won, 21.5 trillion won more than during the same period last year. National tax revenue increased mainly due to improved corporate performance last year, especially in corporate tax.
However, when looking at only June, the difference compared to last year is not significant. Last month, national tax revenue was 17.7 trillion won, an increase of 1 billion won compared to June of last year.
Last month, income tax, primarily from comprehensive income tax, increased by 900 billion won compared to the same period last year, and inheritance and gift tax also rose by 400 billion won due to an increase in high-value inheritors. Traffic, environmental, and energy taxes also increased by 100 billion won.
On the other hand, value-added taxes decreased by 900 billion won compared to June of last year, as cash flow increased while revenue decreased. The security transaction tax also dropped by 200 billion won due to lower transaction amounts. Corporate tax also decreased by 100 billion won.
The progress rate compared to the budget is 51.1%. This is about 1 percentage point higher than last year's progress rate (50.1%) and 0.5 percentage points lower than the progress rate of the past five years (51.6%). The progress rate for this year is based on the original budget, while the rates for last year and the past five years are based on the settlement of account.
