President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to meet with a delegation from the Japan-South Korea parliament alliance, including former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who is visiting Korea on the 30th.
The presidential office stated on the 29th that President Lee will meet with former Prime Minister Suga and Secretary-General Akihisa Nagashima and Chairman Gensuke Onishi from the Japan-South Korea parliament alliance at the presidential office at 2 p.m. on the 30th.
A presidential office official noted, "The visit of the Japan-South Korea parliament alliance delegation is the first visit by a senior politician from Japan since the launch of our new government," adding, "The government aims to build a solid and mature Korea-Japan relationship through various communication efforts with all sectors of Japan."
Earlier, former Prime Minister Suga stated during a Japan-South Korea parliament alliance meeting on the 5th of last month, "There are difficult issues because we are neighboring countries, but it is important to seek communication at various levels to stabilize Korea-Japan relations, which marks the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations this year and move forward."
The Japan-South Korea parliament alliance plans to hold a joint general meeting with the Korea-Japan parliament alliance in Korea this fall.
