The Army announced on the 23rd that it has deployed more than 2,300 personnel and over 30 pieces of equipment to support disaster recovery efforts in areas affected by heavy rain, such as Sancheong and Hapcheon counties in Gyeongnam, as well as in Jeonnam and Gwangju.
Since the 17th, the Army has been deploying military personnel and equipment to disaster-stricken areas, including Gyeonggi, Chungnam, and Jeonnam, to support recovery efforts. As of that day, more than 6,900 personnel have been deployed. These soldiers are continuing tasks such as clearing flooded houses and roads, restoring farmland, and delivering relief supplies.
The Army is also supporting search operations for missing persons. Personnel from the Special Warfare Command have started search efforts using inflatable boats in the Gwangju and Suncheon areas of Jeonnam. In places like Sancheong, soldiers from the 39th Division's mobile unit have been deployed.
An Army official noted, "We are conducting recovery and search operations with the safety of our personnel as the top priority," adding, "For the river search operations, we have deployed special forces members who are equipped with adequate training and equipment for underwater operations."
