Song Gi-ho, head of the National Security Situation Office at the Presidential Office, has moved to the position of Economic Security Secretary under the National Security Office.
Kang Yu-jung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, noted on the 22nd, "Secretary Song has moved to a horizontal position considering the importance of the tariff negotiations with the U.S. as an expert in international trade and economics."
The Economic Security Secretary is a position under Oh Hyun-joo, Deputy Minister overseeing diplomatic and security affairs in the economic sector within the National Security Office. After graduating from Seoul National University with a degree in trade, Secretary Song worked at Nonghyup Bank before passing the bar exam in 1998. He has served as an expert in international trade, including as the chair of the International Trade Committee at the National Lawyers Association.
Secretary Song ran as a candidate for the Seoul Songpa-eul constituency in the 22nd National Assembly election but was unsuccessful. He was appointed as the head of the National Security Situation Office in the first Lee Jae-myung administration on the 13th of last month. Secretary Song is expected to handle matters related to international trade, including tariff negotiations with the U.S.
