Kim Jeong-jae, chair of the policy committee of the People Power Party, criticized Kim Eui-gyeom, newly appointed director of the Saemangeum Development Agency, saying, "Are you planning to turn the Saemangeum Development Agency into the Saemangeum Speculation Agency?"
Chairman Kim noted in a meeting of the People Power Party's emergency response committee held on the 21st that "former lawmaker Kim Eui-gyeom is a figure who has drawn public outrage due to speculation in Heukseok-dong," and added, "No matter how much it's a reward appointment, it is common sense for the public to expect at least minimal expertise and relevance to the job."
Chairman Kim continued his criticism regarding President Lee Jae-myung's appointments. He mentioned the appointment of lawyer Jo Won-cheol, who defended President Lee in the Daejang-dong incident, as the head of the Legislative Affairs Office.
Chairman Kim criticized, saying, "During his past tenure as party leader and governor of Gyeonggi Province, President Lee emphasized that 'reward appointments and parachute appointments should not be made,' advocating for a merit-based appointment principle." He continued, "However, it seems that the President's current appointment standards have been distorted from expertise and capability to how close one is to me and how well they defended my case."
