President Lee Jae-myung appointed Kim Byeong-joo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, as the head of the special envoy delegation to Canada, and Kim Young-chun, former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, as the head of the special envoy delegation to Malaysia on the 20th.
Spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung noted during a written briefing that "a special envoy delegation is scheduled to be dispatched to Canada and Malaysia on July 22."
Kang added, "The Canadian special envoy delegation will be led by Congressman Kim Byeong-joo, while the Malaysian special envoy delegation will be headed by former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kim Young-chun, who will meet with key figures in the respective countries." She explained, "We plan to convey our president's message regarding the expansion of friendly cooperative relations with the respective countries along with a letter from the president."
According to the presidential office, the Canadian special envoy delegation will include Director General Kim Byeong-joo, along with Democratic Party members Maeng Seong-kyu and Kim Joo-young.
The Malaysian special envoy delegation will include Director General Kim Young-chun, as well as Democratic Party members Nam In-soon and Yoon Geon-young.
