President Lee Jae-myung appointed former National Assembly member Kim Eui-gyeom as the head of the Saemangeum Development Agency.
On the 20th, President Lee appointed four vice minister-level posts including the head of the Saemangeum Development Agency, the head of the Ministry of Personnel Management, the vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission, and the director of the National Museum of Korea, according to Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung via a written briefing.
Cho Dong-seok, current head of the Cho Dong-seok Personnel and Organization Research Institute, was appointed as the head of the Ministry of Personnel Management, Kwon Dae-young, the current Secretary-General of the Financial Services Commission, was appointed as the vice chairman, and Yoo Hong-joon, a distinguished professor of art history at Myongji University, was appointed as the director of the National Museum of Korea.
Spokesperson Kang noted regarding the appointment of Administrator Kim Eui-gyeom, "His background as a journalist, editorialist, and serving as a spokesperson for the Blue House and a National Assembly member gives him a diverse experience that is an advantage," adding that he will achieve outstanding results in effectively conveying the strategic value of Saemangeum to the public and establishing media strategies necessary for attracting domestic and foreign investment.
Spokesperson Kang introduced Minister Cho Dong-seok by saying, "He has built experience in personnel and organization management in both the public and private sectors, having served as the head of the Personnel Organization Reform Team at the Bank of Korea and the vice president in charge of personnel organization at Kyobo Life Insurance."
Spokesperson Kang also explained about Vice Chairman Kwon Dae-young, saying he is a practical financial expert who has designed and implemented effective livelihood finance policies such as the New Start Fund and the Safe Transition Loan amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Furthermore, regarding Director Yoo, Spokesperson Kang explained that he is the right person to lead the National Museum of Korea, as he has raised public interest in cultural heritage through his book "My Cultural Heritage Exploration" and contributed to the dissemination of culture that encourages public participation.
