The Democratic Party of Korea said on the 19th that it supports the special prosecutor team led by Jeong Eun-seok, which has arrested and indicted former President Yoon Suk-yeol on charges of obstruction of the exercise of official authority.
Democratic Party of Korea spokesperson Park Sang-hyuk noted during a written briefing that "the special prosecutor team's firm will not be swayed by Yoon Suk-yeol, who is obstructing the special prosecutor's investigation using various excuses and legal technicalities."
He also stated, "As the special prosecutor's investigation progresses, the allegations against Yoon Suk-yeol will increase. We cannot tolerate the judicial system being neutralized by a coup leader trying to undermine the constitutional order. I hope it will clearly show that the more one resists the judicial process, the heavier the punishment will be."
Spokesperson Park emphasized, "The court must also stress that there should be no more tolerance for a coup leader," and stated, "What the court must uphold is not privilege but judicial justice."
