President Lee Jae-myung has endorsed the appointment of the Minister of Justice, Minister of Economy and Finance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The Presidential Office noted on the 18th, "President Lee endorsed the appointments of Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho, Economy and Finance Minister Koo Yoon-cheol, Foreign Affairs Minister Cho Hyun, and Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Kim Jeong-gwan on that day."
This endorsement comes two days after President Lee endorsed the appointment of Bae Gyeong-hun as the Minister of Science and ICT on the 16th.
Thus, among the 18 ministerial nominees, excluding the retained Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong, the appointments of 5 nominees have been endorsed.
On the same day, the National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee, Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs, and Startups Committee, and Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee held a plenary meeting and adopted a report on the ministerial nominees with bipartisan agreement.
The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee adopted the report on the ministerial nominees through a vote (10 in favor, 7 opposed). However, members of the People Power Party raised concerns about the political neutrality of the nominee Jeong and cast their votes against.
