The Presidential Security Service announced on the 17th that it has decided to dismiss Kim Sung-hoon, a former Vice Administrator, who is suspected of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
The Security Service held a high-level disciplinary committee meeting on the 15th and decided this with unanimous consent from all members. The reason is abuse of authority and other charges.
The special prosecution team led by Cho Eun-seok is investigating former Vice Administrator Kim, who was a part of the 'hardline faction' within the Security Service, for allegedly leading the active obstruction of the first and second arrest attempts of former President Yoon and excluding employees who did not follow orders from duty. Former Vice Administrator Kim had been on standby after submitting his resignation in April, but his public servant status was revoked as the disciplinary committee imposed the highest level of disciplinary action.
The Security Service stated, 'As the investigation into the criminal charges related to former Vice Administrator Kim for obstruction of special public duty is ongoing by investigative agencies, it was not included in the disciplinary content,' adding, 'We respect the disciplinary committee's decision and plan to proceed with necessary procedures in the future.'
