Yoon Hee-sook, the Chairperson of the People Power Party's Innovation Committee, argued that prominent figures affiliated with Yoon Suk-yeol should clarify their positions. She believes that 'human cleansing' is inevitable for renewal following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. She also demanded that all members of the People Power Party sign a 'pledge to prohibit factional activities.'
On the 16th, Yoon Hee-sook held a press conference at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and stated, "Members Na Kyung-won, Yoon Sang-hyun, Jang Dong-hyuk, and Floor Leader Song Eon-seok, who are resisting the disconnection from the past and pushing the party into the sea of impeachment, should clarify their positions themselves."
She further emphasized, "On the 13th, I urged those responsible for bringing us to this state to apologize in this very place. This is the first step in disconnecting from the wrong past and becoming renewed." She added, "However, instead of apologizing, they denied and criticized the efforts to break from the past, insisting that there is no need for an apology or human renewal."
Yoon Hee-sook said, "Even now, those who claim to innovate are frustrating party members who desperately hope for the party to rise again by merely repeating past mistakes." She described it as "the most heinous behavior that throttles the breath of a sick party."
Regarding the People Power Party amending its constitution on May 31 to prohibit factional activities, she noted, "Illegal factional organizations that the constitution prohibits, such as 'Under 73' and 'Under Jin-yoon,' are still being mentioned in the media." She added, "The People Power Party has a shameful history of digging its own grave with factions. As you know, the pro-Park and anti-Park factions clashed and suffered a crushing defeat in the 2016 general election."
She continued, "All members must submit a pledge against factional activities to the public," adding, "I hear that a general meeting of lawmakers will be held on the 20th, and at this meeting, all 107 members must resolve that they will eradicate factional activities and will not incite division within the party."
However, Yoon did not specify whether the mentioned 'position' referred to 'departure from the party.' She explained that the reason for mentioning specific individuals is that "Those who do not apologize from the current perspective are doing 'anti-reform.'"
Regarding the participation of Jeon Hwan-gil, who delivered a congratulatory speech at a forum hosted by a People Power Party lawmaker, she said, "The party is very sick," adding, "Bringing street forces into the living room is something that I believe throttles the breath of a deeply ill party."
