The first high-level party-government council will be held on the 6th after the launch of the Lee Jae-myung government.
The council will be held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, at 4 p.m. that day, chaired by Prime Minister Kim Min-seok. This is the first meeting of the ruling party and government since Prime Minister Kim was officially appointed following the completion of the National Assembly's approval process.
The meeting is expected to discuss measures to tackle rising prices. With the consumer price index in June increasing by 2.2% compared to a year ago, and the burden of inflation becoming more apparent, it seems that each ministry will check their respective measures. Additionally, disaster safety measures related to heatwaves and floods are also expected to be reviewed. Prime Minister Kim, after receiving the presidential appointment on the 4th, noted that "damage from heatwaves is a disaster that can be prevented with thorough preparedness," urging the establishment of comprehensive measures.
It seems that they will also review the execution plan for this year's 31.8 trillion won supplementary budget, which passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 4th and was approved at the Cabinet meeting on the 5th.
Present at the meeting from the ruling Democratic Party of Korea will be acting leader Kim Byeong-ki and floor leader Kim Yoon-duk, along with Policy Committee Chair Jin Sung-jun. From the government, Prime Minister Kim and Minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Yoon Chang-ryeol, as well as First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance Lee Hyung-il, will attend. From the presidential office, Chief of Staff Kang Hoon, Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Woo Sang-ho, and Senior Secretary for Economic Growth Ha Jun-kyung will also be present.
