President Lee Jae-myung said on the 3rd, "If I could transfer the functions of the Board of Audit and Inspection to the National Assembly, I would like to." He expressed his stance on the proposal to transfer the functions of the Board of Audit and Inspection to the National Assembly.
During the '30-day inauguration press conference' on the morning of the same day, President Lee responded to a question about ways to complement the imperial presidency by stating, "It is also a bit misleading to say the president is imperial. When the National Assembly has a power imbalance, there isn't much that can be done. Didn't previous presidents also struggle quite a bit?" He added, "The presidency is not so imperial. How to change the system is not my responsibility." He continued, "I haven't deeply considered changing the system at this stage."
He also said, "If I could transfer the functions of the Board of Audit and Inspection to the National Assembly, I would like to. For the sake of my own security, having checks is beneficial."
He revealed that he has requested the recommendation of a special inspector as part of monitoring presidential power. President Lee noted, "It would be quite uncomfortable, but it is important to prevent misfortune from befalling my family and those close to me," adding, "Since it has only been a month, even if I wanted to commit corruption, I wouldn't have been able to, so it is better to prevent and contain it."
