The ruling Democratic Party of Korea defined the main opposition People Power Party as a "disruptive force to the people's livelihood" on the 30th and declared an all-out war on people's livelihood. They reiterated their plan to process a supplementary budget of 30.5 trillion won for the second extra budget this year, the confirmation of Prime Minister candidate Kim Min-seok, and over 40 bills related to people's livelihood, including the Commercial Act amendment, within the June temporary National Assembly.
Kim Byeong-ki, acting party leader and floor leader, criticized the People Power Party during a supreme council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the same day, saying, "The People Power Party, which has ruined the people's livelihood economy through insurrection, is obstructing the confirmation of the Prime Minister and the supplementary budget for the people's livelihood without any reflection."
He pointed out that the People Power Party's decision to hold its own hearing is "a political show of false propaganda comparable to Yoon Suk-yeol's incitement to justify insurrection."
He continued, "The People Power Party is merely opposing for the sake of opposing while insisting that the supplementary budget for people's livelihood is a hastily put together budget," adding, "They are pouring cold water on the expectations of the public and the internal and external parties regarding the recovery of the people's livelihood economy and the supplementary budget following the launch of the Lee Jae-myung government. This is a clear anti-people, anti-livelihood act."
Acting representative Kim stated, "The Democratic Party will no longer wait or stand idly by. We will not tolerate the forces that have ruined the people's livelihood economy obstructing even the efforts to recover it any longer," adding, "The Democratic Party declares an all-out war on the disruptive forces to the people's livelihood as of this moment."
He remarked, "We will take action more swiftly for the eradication of insurrection forces and the recovery of the livelihood economy," stating, "We will not engage in negotiations or compromises without principles with the disruptive forces aiding insurrection."
He further stated, "The Democratic Party will swiftly process the supplementary budget for livelihood, the Prime Minister confirmation, and bills for livelihood reform within the June National Assembly to create a turning point for the recovery of the livelihood economy."
The Democratic Party plans to process 40 bills related to livelihood reform, including an amendment to the Commercial Act that expands the duties of loyalty for directors from 'companies' to 'companies and shareholders.'
In addition, they stated that they are considering legal actions regarding the People Power Party's announcement to conduct its own hearing for Prime Minister candidate Kim Min-seok.
Han Min-soo, a spokesperson for the Democratic Party, met with reporters after the meeting and said, "The People Power Party claims it will hold its own hearing while opposing the Prime Minister confirmation. This is a political show of false propaganda. Our party will take legal action regarding this," adding, "We will prepare appropriate legal measures based on the situation of the people's hearing."
