Vice Minister Geum Han-seung emphasized, "I will transform the fossil fuel-centered energy system into an eco-friendly energy system that coexists with local residents."
On the 29th, Vice Minister Geum said in his inaugural address, "I will ensure that we can achieve both carbon neutrality and revitalization of the local economy."
He noted, "I will realize carbon neutrality based on market mechanisms and energy innovation," adding, "For sustainable economic development in the climate crisis era, carbon neutrality and industrial competitiveness must go hand in hand like the front and back wheels of a cart."
Vice Minister Geum added, "To this end, I will actively promote structural reform to accelerate the low-carbon transformation of our social and economic structures and enhance the competitiveness of corporations and the nation."
He said, "I will take a new path for the livelihood of the people and a sustainable future," emphasizing climate democracy. He further stated, "We will also create the future climate blueprint together with the public, including the 2035 national greenhouse gas reduction target and the 2050 long-term reduction pathway," and, "I will ensure transparency not only in the effectiveness of policies but also in expenses, aiming to promote social compromise through public discussions."
Vice Minister Geum also highlighted the safety of the people. He stated, "I will make every effort to ensure that no unfortunate loss of life occurs due to flooding," and added, "We will respond quickly to disasters such as sinkholes that threaten the daily lives of the public, collaborating with all relevant government departments without regard to jurisdiction."
