The Presidential Committee on Policy Planning has additionally formed a basic society task force (TF) and an artificial intelligence (AI) TF. The aim is to establish key national policy tasks centered around President Lee Jae-myung's signature policies of a basic society and AI. The government's organizational reorganization plan is expected to outline as early as next week.
Cho Seung-rae, spokesperson for the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning, held a briefing on the 27th at the Seoul Government Complex and noted, "We will discuss the core tasks and governance of the basic society, establishing a basic society TF led by Professor Eun Min-soo from Sogang University."
He added, "There was a consensus that it is necessary to invest the entire resources of the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning to consolidate the activities of the currently formed AI TF by sector and to specify the new government's AI strategy, so we decided to form an AI TF as well," explaining that "the TF formation will be worked on over the weekend and reported to the operating committee meeting for decision around Monday."
The basic society and AI have been prominent policies that President Lee has consistently mentioned since before taking office. President Lee emphasized during his first campaign promise for the 21st presidential election, "I will create an 'AI basic society' that protects people's lives by analyzing financial, health, food, and disaster risks with AI."
The organizational reform TF plans to draft a proposal for the government's organizational restructuring next week. Spokesperson Cho said, "The organizational reform TF sorted out discussions held initially on the 26th by issues and will discuss rapidly over the weekend to derive a preliminary conclusion."
The committee also held its first meeting of the regulatory rationalization TF the previous day. At this meeting, the Office for Government Policy Coordination reported on ▲ enhancing the effectiveness of regulatory sandboxes ▲ improving regulations for the recovery of the everyday economy ▲ strengthening measures to enhance the regulatory innovation control tower. It was also reported that there will be rational supplementation of regulations directly related to people's lives.
The committee plans to operate a 'visiting plaza for everyone' starting from the 1st of next month for the digitally vulnerable groups who have difficulty accessing the online communication platform 'Plaza for Everyone.' As of the previous day, 'Plaza for Everyone' has recorded over 200,000 cumulative visitors and 350,000 policy proposals.
