Vice Minister Lim Ki-geun of the Ministry of Economy and Finance visited the disaster recovery project site on the 25th to check on disaster prevention measures during the monsoon season.
Vice Minister Lim, who visited the Mokgaemicheon in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, noted, "Rapid project implementation is necessary to fundamentally address the causes of damage," and ordered, "Prioritize reinforcing sections that are expected to be vulnerable to heavy rainfall among the remaining tasks to ensure thorough prevention of damage during this year's monsoon season."

The city of Gwangju began the disaster recovery project in July 2023 to prevent further damage. They are currently installing and reinforcing flood control facilities, including bridges, culverts, and flood barriers, in the area surrounding the river at a cost of 10.3 billion won. The current progress rate is 70%.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance stated, "Taking this site inspection as an opportunity, we plan to conduct an urgent review of disaster prevention projects such as heavy rains and typhoons," and added, "We will do our utmost to protect the lives and property of the people through thorough disaster safety management."
